Godzilla and Titans
Mari Yamamoto (“Pachinko”) has joined the cast of the Godzilla and Titans monster-verse series for Apple TV+ and Legendary Television. The series will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.
Details regarding the character she will portray are under wraps. She will star alongside previously announced series regulars Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, Elisa Lasowski, Kurt Russell, and Wyatt Russell. Matthew Shakman will direct. [Source: Deadline]
Old Man
The Stephen Lang-led, Lucky McKee-directed “Old Man” has been acquired by RLJE Films and is set to premiere in cinemas and on-demand on October 14th. Marc Senter, Liana Wright-Mark and Patch Darragh co-star.
The story follows a lost hiker who stumbles onto the isolated property of an erratic old man. When the two strike up a conversation, the man reveals a terrifying secret, and the hiker finds himself in a living nightmare. [Source: Collider]
The Idol
HBO has premiered a new trailer for their new series “The Idol” from Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye and “Euphoria” creator Sam Levison. Tesfaye and Reza Fahim are credited as writers with Joe Epstein serving as showrunner.
Lily-Rose Deppe and The Weeknd star in a story set against the L.A. music industry and follows a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop singer.
Strange Way of Life
New set photos have been released from Pedro Almodovar’s upcoming English-language half-hour short film “Strange Way of Life” starring Ethan Hawke, Pedro Pascal and Manu Rios.
Hawke and Pascal play retired gunslingers and old pals who meet each other again after over two decades apart and is dubbed Almodovar’s response to “Brokeback Mountain” which he was offered at tone time but turned down due to limitations placed by the studio.
