There are times in life when you really don’t have time for anything. I’m sort of in a season like that now. When you look around the house and want to change things but really just can’t for whatever reason.
When that happens, I find quick pick-me-ups that will help cheer me up and hold me over until I can do something bigger. There are lots of small home decorating ideas that can add up to big impact. Today I picked several that can be done in 15 minutes or less.
Light a candle, put on some music, and try one or two of these! You’ll be glad you did.
Restyle a mantel or shelf
The mantel is the focal point of the living room so changing that up can change the whole room. If you don’t have a mantel, change out items on your shelves, dresser, or kitchen counter. It works anywhere.
Hang New Art
Hanging a few new art pieces in my bathroom recently made such a big difference. I’m really on a big art kick lately because it’s such an easy way to update things. Wall space takes up the majority of the room so make it interesting! You can shop vintage art here.
Create A Floral Display
When it comes to home decorating ideas, greenery is always my first choice.
No garden? No problem. Go to the grocery store and pick the most interesting flowers you can find. I like both Wegmans and Traders Joe’s for their floral departments. They usually have more interesting flowers than other supermarkets.
Quick tip, more is usually better. I love a big abundant display but even a few blooms like the above here work well.
Change Your comforter or shower curtain
Bedding and shower curtains are both things that take up a lot of visual real estate. Fortunately, both are quick and easy to change.
Adding a floral print quilt when I did a quick bedroom refresh to my daughter’s room added a nice pop of color to the space.
Coffee Table Styling
Decluttering and rearranging your living room tables is another fun one. It’s the room most people see when visiting and likely where you spend the most time. I’ll often change up things like this when I’m cleaning. It helps to make cleaning more fun.
Make A vignette
Anywhere you have surface space can be turned into a vignette. The one shown above I put together on a bench my daughter bought at the flea market. A few hydrangeas from the garden are the star, and books are always great in vignettes.
Walk around your house and see what small things you have that can be grouped together for an interesting mix.
Declutter something
Sometimes just having some clean and open surface space is all you need for an uncluttered mind! Decluttering is something I’m always working on but never seem to get ahead of!
By the way, if you do one of these home decorating ideas each day for a week they’ll add up to a decent makeover!
