Rizla wants you to redesign its iconic silver papers pack

How often do you get a chance to design the packaging for an iconic product known across the world?

When it comes to packaging design, it’s great to work on fresh and disruptive new products. But at the end of the day, wouldn’t it be amazing to see your designs on a truly iconic brand sold in retailers up and down the country?

Such an opportunity rarely, if ever, presents itself. After all, how many redesigns of the classic Coke can, say, have you seen in your own lifetime? But right now, designers everywhere are being offered that very chance because Rizla has just launched a unique competition to design a new Rizla Silver booklet.

The final artworks will be revealed on the brand’s social media @officialrizlauk. And the winner will actually see their design being sold in retail shops. Plus, as the icing on the cake, the winner will also get a new MacBook Pro.

Proud tradition

Rizla is unarguably the best-known and most-loved name in the realm of rolling papers and has a long and proud pedigree. First launched in 1796, the name came in 1886 from “riz” (the French word for “rice”) and “La+”, an abbreviation of Lacroix (“the cross”).

In 1942, the brand revolutionised the world of rolling papers when the Lacroix brothers acquired a patent for applying gum to the edge. This new feature solidified Rizla’s position as a leader in the rolling paper industry, placing them at the top of the market.

In 1977, thirty-three years after the brand name change, Rizla released the first of its King Size rolling papers. Over the decades since, the brand has maintained an unwavering companion for aficionados of hand-rolled cigarettes, large and small. Its enduring appeal lies in its commitment to quality, consistently delivering finely crafted papers that enhance the smoking experience.

How to enter

To enter the Rizla Silver Booklet Design Competition 2024, just follow these simple instructions:

1. Click this link to download a PSD, PNG or JPG design template of a blank Rizla Silver KS pack. You can use any one file format provided from the downloaded files that suits you and your capabilities.

2. Create your own unique design using the design template.

3. Email your final design to rizlacomps@rizla.co.uk before 11.59pm on 9th February 2024.

4. If you are working on a PSD file, export it as a PNG or JPG file before sending it.

5. Rizla will pick their favourite design, and the winner will be contacted via email and our social channels. Make sure you’re following them so you don’t miss their DM.
